Rovo usage allowance
Rovo is now included in all paid Jira, Confluence, Service Collection / Jira Service Management and Teamwork Collection cloud subscriptions.
To turn on Rovo, your organization admin must be on a verified business domain (for example, @yourcompany.com). We can’t enable Rovo on sites where the organization is registered with a generic email domain such as gmail.com or outlook.com.
Atlassian is not currently billing for usage above your included Rovo credit allowance. Before any extra usage becomes billable, we will provide at least 90 days’ notice and require an explicit opt‑in. This is to avoid surprises and give you time to plan and manage AI adoption.
Indexed objects don’t consume Rovo credits and will not be billed. They appear in your usage dashboard for visibility only.
Customers must always comply with our Atlassian Acceptable Use Policy.
How Rovo credits work
Rovo usage is measured in Rovo credits (previously “AI credits”). Credits are a consumption unit based on interactions with specific Rovo AI features. The credit cost depends on the complexity of the interaction.
Rovo credits:
Are provided as a fixed allowance per seat per month, based on your edition and the apps/collections you subscribe to.
Are pooled at the organization level, so allowances scale with your seat count and editions.
Reset monthly.
Do not roll over; unused credits cannot be banked for future periods.
Rovo Dev uses a separate credit system that is independent from Rovo credits. More on Rovo Dev credits.
Included Rovo credit allowances
Each eligible cloud subscription includes a per‑user, per‑month Rovo credit allowance:
Edition | App / Collection | Rovo credits (per user per month) |
|---|---|---|
Standard | Jira | 25 |
Confluence | 25 | |
Service Collection / Jira Service Management | 25 | |
Teamwork Collection | 250 | |
Premium | Jira | 70 |
Confluence | 70 | |
Service Collection / Jira Service Management | 70 | |
Teamwork Collection | 700 | |
Enterprise | Jira | 150 |
Confluence | 150 | |
Service Collection / Jira Service Management | 150 | |
Teamwork Collection | 1,500 |
Because allowances are pooled, your total monthly allowance depends on how many seats you have on each product and edition. For example, if your company has 100 users on Confluence Premium, and 50 of those users also on Jira Premium, your organization’s total monthly allowance would be:
10,500 Rovo credits per month → (100 users × 70 for Confluence Premium) + (50 users × 70 for Jira Premium)
Rovo credit usage limits exist, but any extra usage above your allowance is not currently billed. We will give at least 90 days’ notice and require an explicit opt‑in before extra usage can generate charges.
What consumes Rovo credits
Rovo credits are consumed by advanced AI features. Today, the only billable features are:
10 credits per request to Rovo Chat
10 credits per request to Rovo Agents
100 credits per request using Deep Research
Other features do not currently consume Rovo credits, including:
Rovo Search queries
Summaries
Chart insights
Definitions
As we add new Rovo features, Atlassian may introduce associated Rovo credit costs for their use.
Rovo features that are in Beta are free to use and do not count against your Rovo credit allowance, unless we explicitly state otherwise.
This includes the Atlassian Remote MCP Server, which is currently free and doesn’t consume Rovo credits.
